I just sent out the 164th download of TechAssess, the customizable spreadsheet for assessing the commercial potential of nascent technology developed or discovered in university research. It is rewarding to know that so many have taken an interest in this free (for non-profits) form.

The great thing about using a standardized form is that all clients are treated equally. From the grumpy to the easy-going, all inventors are evaluated with standard questions and answers.

Additionally, it works as a great educational tool to use when meeting with an inventor. It shows them all of the considerations that enter into a successful technology transfer. It even improves the next invention disclosure.
